Wipro Secures Multi-Year Contract from Saudi Electric Company to Implement Smart Meter Data Management System

Wipro Ltd. has secured a multi-year strategic contract from Saudi Electric Company’s National Grid SA to implement a Smart Meter Data Management (MDM) system. The initiative aims to modernise the client’s meter data platform, enhance operational efficiency, and manage operational risks more effectively. Wipro will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting the MDM infrastructure and smart applications.

Vinay Firake, CEO of Wipro’s APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa) business, emphasized the significance of this partnership in contributing to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. He highlighted Wipro’s domain expertise in the energy sector and commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s digitalisation and innovation goals.

The MDM system will provide real-time data on power flow, voltage levels, and equipment performance, thereby improving grid stability. It will enable intelligent forecasting, robust reporting, proactive maintenance, and faster fault detection. These features will enhance National Grid SA’s grid planning and visibility into energy consumption patterns.

The deployment of this system is expected to reduce operational costs, improve power dispatch efficiency, and minimise outages. Ultimately, it will offer a more reliable and optimised experience for end users, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader ambitions for a modernised and resilient energy infrastructure.
