Websol Energy Bags 100 MW Solar Cell Order from Luminous, Boosts Expansion Plans

Kolkata-based Websol Energy System Ltd. has received a significant 100 MW Mono PERC solar cell supply order from Luminous Power Technologies, scheduled for delivery from April 2025 to April 2026. The solar cells will have an efficiency range of 23% to 23.4%, underlining the shift toward high-performance renewable components.

This deal is a strategic milestone for Websol, aligning with its long-term plan to scale up production and enhance market presence in India's booming renewable energy sector. The company emphasized that the agreement not only supports its domestic growth but also opens up international opportunities by meeting the rising demand for efficient solar technologies.

Websol’s expansion is backed by ongoing investments. In October 2024, it announced an additional 600 MW Mono PERC cell line at its Falta plant in West Bengal, with an investment of INR 220 crore. The line is expected to be commissioned by Q1 of FY 2025-26, with commercial production starting in July 2025.

This follows a major capacity upgrade in 2023, where Websol installed a 600 MW Mono PERC bifacial cell line (upgradable to TOPCon technology) and a 550 MW module line. These steps reinforce Websol’sposition as a major player in India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem.
