THDC India Seeks Bids for 100.1 MW Solar Projects at Thermal Plants in Karnataka
Jan 13, 2025
THDC India has issued a tender inviting bids to develop 100.1 MW/135.2 MWp ground-mounted solar power projects at the thermal power stations of Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) located in Bellary and Raichur, Karnataka.
The last date for bid submission is January 30, 2025, with the bid opening scheduled for the same day. Participating bidders must provide an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs8.22 Cr.
Selected bidders will be responsible for the complete design, engineering, procurement, and supply of the solar power systems in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode. The project includes a three-year operation and maintenance (O&M) service.
The 100.1 MW capacity is divided across three locations:• 9 MW (AC) / 72.8 MWp at Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) • 8 MW (AC) / 41.6 MWp at Yeramarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS) • 4 MW (AC) / 20.8 MWp at Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS)
Successful bidders must establish bay extensions at the 220 kV switchyards within RTPS and BTPS, with the delivery points at the respective substations’ high-voltage (HV) busbars. For YTPS, the delivery point will be at the 110 kV Chicksugur substation, 2 km away. The contract also includes constructing the bay extension, power transformer augmentation, and conducting geotechnical and geophysical studies at all proposed sites.
The project has an estimated cost of Rs4.1 billion. Solar modules must be procured from models listed in List-I of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Additionally, bidders must qualify as Class-I local suppliers under government procurement guidelines. Background and Related Developments.
THDC India Limited (THDCIL) and KPCL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in November 2023 to jointly develop hydropower, solar, and pumped storage projects in Karnataka. The thermal power stations in Bellary, Raichur, and Yeramarus were identified for solar installations.
