Tata Power Renewables Partners with Rajasthan Discoms for Rooftop Solar Expansion
Feb 01, 2025
Tata Power Renewables (TPREL) has entered into a partnership with three major Distribution Companies (Discoms) in Rajasthan: Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL), Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL), and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JdVVNL). This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems across the state under the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana initiative.
The agreement is designed to promote the installation of rooftop solar panels, helping to meet the increasing demand for clean energy and contributing to India’s renewable energy targets. Through this partnership, TPREL intends to provide exclusive pricing models, offer training for channel partners, and ensure efficient installation services. These measures are intended to make the transition to solar energy more accessible and cost-effective for consumers across Rajasthan.
The MoU is a significant step for Rajasthan as it moves forward in its renewable energy journey. The state is looking to reduce its reliance on traditional, non-renewable energy sources, and rooftop solar represents a key part of this strategy. The initiative aligns with the central government’s push towards decentralizing power generation, making solar energy more accessible at the individual and community levels.
As the CEO & Managing Director of TPREL, Mr. Deepesh Nanda, pointed out, this collaboration is a vital initiative that will help shape the future of energy in the state. It aims to reduce Rajasthan's dependence on fossil fuels while promoting the use of sustainable energy sources. Moreover, it will raise awareness about the benefits of renewable energy, fostering a greater understanding of how communities can contribute to a greener future.
