Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited and Tata Motors Partner for 131 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project to Power Clean Manufacturing

Apr 22, 2025

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), the renewable energy arm of Tata Power, has signed a major Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Motors to develop a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid project. This project will generate around 300 million units of clean electricity annually, helping offset over 2 lakh tons of CO2 emissions each year.

The clean energy will be used exclusively at six Tata Motors’ manufacturing plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat, supporting the production of both commercial and passenger vehicles. The initiative is a key step in Tata Motors’ plan to fulfill its RE-100 commitment (100% renewable energy usage) ahead of the 2030 target, and progress toward net-zero emissions.

This hybrid project combines solar and wind power, and possibly includes floating solar and battery storage in the future. TPREL’s integrated Round-The-Clock (RTC) green energy model ensures a reliable and cost-effective energy supply, making it easier for industries to meet ESG and RE targets.

With a strong nationwide presence and over 1.5 GW of group captive project capacity, TPREL is establishing itself as a leader in scalable clean energy solutions for industries across India.
