Sunnova Appoints Robyn Liska as Interim CFO Amid Financial Restructuring

Sunnova has appointed Robyn Liska as its interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO), marking a strategic leadership shift as the company navigates financial restructuring. Liska, who brings over 15 years of expertise in energy and renewables, will play a crucial role in strengthening Sunnova’s financial strategy alongside CEO Paul Mathews. She previously held senior positions at J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, and UBS, where she specialized in power and renewables investment banking.

Her appointment follows the departure of Eric M. Williams, who stepped down as CFO on March 30, 2025. CEO Paul Mathews expressed confidence in Liska’s ability to enhance Sunnova’s financial agility and drive long-term value creation. Liska emphasized her commitment to stabilizing the company’s financial position and improving cash flow.

In addition to Liska’s appointment, Sunnova promoted Alisha Leveston to Executive Vice President of Operations. She will report directly to CEO Paul Mathews and bring extensive experience in industrial engineering and logistics, having worked at UPS.

Sunnova is currently engaged in discussions with financial stakeholders to reduce debt and improve financial flexibility. As part of this effort, the company has opted to enter a 30-day grace period for an interest payment on its 11.75% Senior Notes due in 2028. Sunnova clarified that this does not constitute a default and will help preserve liquidity while evaluating financial restructuring options.

To support its financial strategy, Sunnova has enlisted Kirkland & Ellis LLP as legal counsel, Alvarez & Marsal as financial advisor, and J.P. Morgan and Moelis & Company as investment bankers. These firms will assist in optimizing the company’s capital structure and ensuring long-term stability. Sunnova remains committed to cost-cutting initiatives, including a previously announced $70 million reduction program, to maintain its position as a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions.
