Solex Energy Expands Solar Module Manufacturing to 4 GW with High-Tech TOPCon Line
Apr 10, 2025
Gujarat-based solar module maker Solex Energy is expanding its manufacturing facility in Tadkeshwar by adding a new 2.2 GW production line. This expansion, costing Rs200 crore, will increase the company’s total production capacity to nearly 4 GW. Commercial production for the new line is expected to start by September 2025.
The new line will produce advanced tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules using modern technologies like artificial intelligence, automated optical inspection, and a real-time manufacturing execution system for better efficiency and quality control. Solex is collaborating with China-based Zhuhai Gmee Solar Equipment to bring in the necessary technology.
Earlier in March 2025, Solex had already launched full-scale operations of an 800 MW solar module plant at the same site. As part of its Vision 2030, the company also plans to set up a solar cell manufacturing unit starting at 2 GW and scaling up to 5 GW, aiming to boost its module capacity to 15 GW.
This move aligns with national trends. India added 25.3 GW of module and 11.6 GW of solar cell capacity in 2024, largely driven by strong demand and the reimposition of the ALMM policy. TOPCon is now a growing part of India’s solar tech mix.
