Shri Suprakash Adhikari Appointed as Director (Technical) at NHPC

Shri Suprakash Adhikari has assumed charge as Director (Technical) of NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower utility and a Navratna PSU. A veteran of the organization, Shri Adhikari brings over 34 years of hydropower sector experience, spanning project development, operations, and technical leadership.

An Electrical Engineering graduate from IIEST Shibpur, he began his career with NHPC in 1990. Prior to this role, he was Executive Director (Operations & Maintenance), where he spearheaded regulatory compliance initiatives, enhanced plant performance metrics, and reduced outages—contributing to record power generation and peak Plant Availability Factors.

He has also led engineering efforts in design and E&M for hydro and pumped storage projects, playing a pivotal role in the commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II HEP. As Project Head, his leadership improved performance at plants like Chamera-I, Sewa-II, and Nimmo Bazgo, including the early restoration of the damaged headrace tunnel at Sewa-II.

Shri Adhikari’s appointment reinforces NHPC’s focus on technical excellence and innovation in hydropower development.
