Reliance Fast-Tracks Clean Energy Rollout with Solar, Battery, and Green Hydrogen Push
Jul 23, 2025
Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) is accelerating its clean energy strategy, aiming to make its entire ecosystem—including solar, battery storage, and green hydrogen—operational within the next four to six quarters. During its Q1 FY26 earnings call, RIL announced that the first phase of its solar gigafactory in Jamnagar has begun module production, with plans to scale up to 50 MW of solar modules and 17 MWh of battery storage installed per day.
To support this expansion, RIL is setting up a captive transmission corridor from Kutch to Jamnagar and building an integrated green chemicals ecosystem powered by green hydrogen, leading to the production of green ammonia. RIL’s battery gigafactory is nearing completion, and its solar cell gigafactory will commence production in the next quarter, with advanced HJT solar panel manufacturing already underway. A 1.3 km-long solar glass manufacturing facility, the largest in India, is also under construction.
Workforce development remains a key priority, with skill training programs and EV alliance partnerships supporting the green transition. Additionally, Reliance is developing 55 compressed biogas (CBG) plants to be commissioned by December 2025, promoting waste-to-energy solutions and a circular economy.
Financially, RIL posted strong Q1 FY26 results, with revenue reaching Rs3.06 lakh crore and EBITDA growing 36% year-on-year to Rs58,000 crore. Excluding a one-time gain from the Asian Paints stake sale, recurring EBITDA rose 15%, while net profit climbed 25%. The company reaffirmed its ambition to double enterprise value by 2030, powered by innovation in clean energy, digital platforms, and advanced technologies.
