POWERGRID Invites Bids for 7 MW Rooftop Solar Projects Across Northern and Western Regions

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has issued bulk contract tenders for the supply and installation of 7 MW of rooftop solar systems on its buildings in northern and western India. This initiative is part of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a government scheme aimed at promoting solar adoption and free electricity for households.
In the Northern Region, aA total of 4 MW will be installed across Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

In the Western Region, a total of 3 MW will be deployed across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, and Chhattisgarh.

The bid security requirement is set at Rs10 lakh per region. Bidders who are exempt from bid security submission must provide a 2% performance security of the total contract price within 28 days of the award. Other bidders will have their bid security automatically converted into peecurity.
The contract covers the supply, installation, and commissioning of grid-connected rooftop solar systems. Contractors must adhere to state utility regulations and provide a three-phase net meter, reverse power flow scheme, or zero export controller. If a reverse power blocking scheme or zero export controller is mandated instead of a net meter, it must be included at no extra cost.
Successful bidders must complete the installation within six months from the issuance of the work order and provide five years of comprehensive maintenance post-commissioning or after the start of net metering, whichever is later.
To qualify, bidders must meet one of the following criteria:
- Installed at least 300 kW of grid-connected solar projects in the last three years
- Be a manufacturer of solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)
- Be a distributor or dealer of solar modules, having supplied at least 1 MW of modules in the last three years
Financially, bidders must demonstrate:
- Minimum average annual turnover of Rs6 crore in the best three years out of the last five financial years
- Liquid assets or access to credit facilities worth at least Rs1 crore
- Positive net worth over the last three financial years
