Patel Engineering Wins Rs718 Crore Contract for 240 MW Hydro Project in Arunachal Pradesh

Apr 26, 2025

Mumbai-based infrastructure firm Patel Engineering Ltd. has won a Rs718 crore contract from the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) for the development of the 240 MW HEO Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh. The project is located in the Shi Yomi district and is expected to generate 1,000 million units (MU) of electricity annually. Patel Engineering emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) and shared this update in a regulatory filing.

The scope of work includes civil construction, infrastructure development, and the installation, testing, and commissioning of all hydro-mechanical equipment necessary for the smooth operation of the project. The entire project is expected to be completed within 44 months.

Founded in 1949, Patel Engineering has a robust legacy in the infrastructure sector, particularly in hydropower, tunneling, and irrigation. Over the years, it has successfully completed more than 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects, and over 300 km of tunnels, primarily for central public sector undertakings (PSUs) and various state governments.

This project further strengthens Patel Engineering’s footprint in India’s renewable and hydropower space and aligns with the broader push for clean, sustainable energy solutions in remote and energy-hungry regions like the Northeast.
