NTPC to Develop CO2 Battery Energy Storage Project in Karnataka

NTPC Ltd, in collaboration with Triveni Turbine Ltd and Italy-based Energy Dome, plans to establish a CO2 battery energy storage project at NTPC Kudgi in Karnataka.

The initiative will be spearheaded by NETRA, NTPC’s R&D wing. The CO2 battery system, with an energy capacity of 160 MWh, is part of NTPC’s broader strategy to enhance renewable energy integration and diversify its energy portfolio.

The project also aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, promoting self-reliance in advanced energy storage solutions.
