NTPC Secures 1200 MW Sikaser Pumped Storage Project in Chhattisgarh

After extensive discussions lasting over 1.5 years, the Government of Chhattisgarh has allocated the 1200 MW Sikaser Pumped Storage Project (PSP) to NTPC on March 10, 2025. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Chhattisgarh, Shri SK Katiyar, MD, CSPGCL, and Jiban Chandra Kakoti, GM (Hydro Engineering), NTPC, in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bishnu Dev Sai and other senior officials. The signing ceremony took place at Hotel Marriott Courtyard, Raipur.

With this allocation, NTPC’s pumped storage portfolio has expanded to 4000 MW, further solidifying its leadership in the sector. The company aims to complete the projects on time and play a key role in energy storage development.

In addition to pumped storage, NTPC has also signed an MoU with the Chhattisgarh government for the development of nuclear and solar projects in the state, reinforcing its commitment to diversified clean energy expansion.
