NTPC Invites Bids for 4 MW Rooftop Solar Projects at DRDO Campuses in Delhi and Bengaluru

Jan 30, 2025

NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a subsidiary of NTPC, has floated tenders for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 4 MW grid-connected rooftop solar power projects at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) campuses in Delhi and Bengaluru. The last date to submit bids for both tenders is February 18, 2025.

The project locations are DRDO Delhi (1.3 MW) & DRDO Bengaluru (2.7 MW).

The selected bidders will be responsible for:

  • Comprehensive planning and supply of solar modules and related equipment.
  • Building the necessary infrastructure for the solar projects.
  • Ensuring the projects are operational and meet performance standards.
  • Securing approvals from distribution licensees and the chief electrical inspector for grid connectivity.
  • Installing solar module cleaning systems and remote monitoring systems for performance tracking.

The selected bidders must use solar modules and equipment from the ALMM list and must specify eligibility for Class-I and Class-II local suppliers as per the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order, 2017. They must complete the projects within the stipulated timelines.

NVVN has been actively promoting rooftop solar projects across the country. In November 2024, it invited bids for grid-connected rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 7.2 MW across 26 buildings under Assam Rifles in Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam. Earlier, in October 2024, NVVN floated tenders for 4.73 MW rooftop solar systems at various locations under the Bhakra Beas Management Board.

The initiative also supports the government’s Make in India program by encouraging the use of domestically manufactured solar equipment. Additionally, the installation of remote monitoring systems ensures efficient performance tracking and maintenance, enhancing the longevity and productivity of the solar projects.
