NTPC Green Energy & MPPGCL Sign MoU for 20 GW Renewable Energy Projects in Madhya Pradesh

Feb 26, 2025

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop renewable energy parks and projects in Madhya Pradesh. The MoU was formalized on February 24, 2025, during the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal, in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh, and ACS (Energy) Neeraj Mandloi.

Under this agreement, NGEL and MPPGCL will collaborate to establish solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects, with or without energy storage, totaling up to 20 GW. The partnership aims to support the fulfillment of Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) for MPPGCL and Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets for Madhya Pradesh DISCOMs. As part of this initiative, both entities will work towards forming a Joint Venture Company (JVC) to accelerate the state's clean energy transition.
