NTPC Green Energy Fully Commissions 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL) has successfully commissioned the final 18.32 MW of its 300 MW Shambu ki Burj-2 Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. With this milestone, NTPC Group’s total installed and commercial capacity now stands at 77,411.50 MW.

  • 150 MW commissioned in September 2022
  • 98.78 MW in September 2024
  • 32.90 MW in October 2024
  • Final 18.32 MW in March 2025
• Renewable Energy (RE) Expansion: NTPC aims to achieve 50% non-fossil fuel-based power generation and 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032.

Joint Ventures and MoUs for Renewable Footprint Expansion:

• Madhya Pradesh: MoU with MPPGCL to develop 20 GW+ RE capacity (~INR 1.2 lakh crore investment).
• Andhra Pradesh: JV with NREDCAP (AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd.) to develop 35 GW of solar, wind, pumped storage, and green hydrogen projects.
• Rajasthan: JV with RVUNL (NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Ltd.) for 25 GW RE and 1 MTPA green hydrogen projects.
• Uttar Pradesh: JV with UPRVUNL (NTPC UP Green Energy Ltd.) for renewable energy parks.
• Maharashtra: 50:50 JV with MAHAGENCO to develop RE parks.
