NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has partnered with the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited to establish AP NGEL HARIT AMRIT LIMITED, a 50:50 joint venture dedicated to renewable energy expansion. The company was officially incorporated on February 6, 2025, following approvals from the Ministry of Power, DIPAM, and NITI Aayog.

The joint venture aims to develop up to 25 GW of solar, wind, and hybrid power projects, with or without storage, across Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, it plans to produce 0.5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia and green methanol. Another key focus is the development of 10 GW of pumped hydro storage at strategic locations in the state.

To initiate the venture, NTPC Green Energy Limited subscribed to 50,000 equity shares at ?10 each, securing a 50% stake. This initiative reinforces India's commitment to a low-carbon future, boosting renewable energy adoption, green hydrogen production, and advanced energy storage solutions. It positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India’s clean energy transition.
