NPTI and NISE Collaborate to Strengthen India's Renewable Energy Workforce

Feb 20, 2025

The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance skill development and capacity-building programs in the renewable energy sector. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to improve employability, foster innovation, and promote entrepreneurship under the Surya Mitra initiative.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, and Prof. Mohammad Rihan, Director General of NISE. This agreement represents a crucial step toward strengthening India's clean energy workforce by integrating academic and practical training in renewable energy. One of the key outcomes of this partnership is the joint execution of the Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Renewable Energy. The course will be structured as a 50-50 academic partnership between NPTI and NISE, ensuring that students benefit from a balanced curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training.

The collaboration is designed to provide students with seamless access to cutting-edge training infrastructure, advanced research facilities, and real-world industry exposure. This initiative is expected to equip students with specialized skills in solar energy and other renewable technologies, making them industry-ready professionals. The Surya Mitra initiative, which focuses on skill development in solar energy, will further support India’s growing demand for trained professionals in the clean energy sector.
