NHPC Signs Long-Term PPA with WBSEDCL for 1,300 MW Hydro Power

NHPC Ltd has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with WBSEDCL in Kolkata on March 28, 2025, for the purchase of power from the 800 MW Parbati-II and 500 MW Teesta-VI hydroelectric projects. The agreement secures the sale of power for 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of both projects.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including NHPC’s General Manager (Commercial) and WBSEDCL’s Chief Engineer (Power Trading & Procurement), along with the Director (Regulatory & Trading) of WBSEDCL.
With this agreement, NHPC has now fully tied up the power output from the Parbati-II project, ensuring stable offtake and financial viability. The deal strengthens West Bengal’s renewable energy mix while securing long-term power availability from hydroelectric sources, contributing to the state’s energy security and decarbonization efforts.
