May 31, 2025

Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), chaired a monthly meeting with Indian wind energy developers to address pressing challenges affecting the sector. The discussions focused on critical issues such as the continuation of the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) waiver, regulatory hurdles, state-level bottlenecks, project delays due to pending approvals, and challenges in power evacuation infrastructure.

Stakeholders and officials explored possible solutions to these constraints with a view to streamlining processes and accelerating wind project development. Secretary Sarangi emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among central and state agencies, developers, and regulators to fast-track India’s clean energy transition. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the wind energy sector, which plays a vital role in achieving national renewable energy targets.
