Mahindra Susten to Develop Solar Project for Swaraj Tractors’ Facilities

Mahindra Susten is set to develop a solar project in Bathinda, Punjab, to supply clean energy to Swaraj Tractors’ manufacturing facilities in Mohali and Dera Bassi. The project is expected to generate 6 crore kWh of renewable energy annually, aligning with Swaraj Tractors’ goal of meeting 50% of its energy needs from renewables.
Mahindra Group’s Renewable Energy Progress:
- 33% of its energy needs were met through renewables in FY 2023-24, with a 6% increase in renewable electricity generation from the previous year.
- Total energy consumption: 708,951 MWh, of which 141,110 MWh was from renewable sources.
- Energy efficiency improvements:
- 29?crease in specific energy consumption in the auto sector.
- 10?crease in the farm equipment sector.
- Target: 100% renewable energy sourcing by 2030.
Mahindra Susten’s Expanding Renewable Portfolio:
- Installed capacity: Over 1.5 GW, with 2 GW under development.
- Recent solar tender wins:
- 200 MW in RUVNL’s 1,000 MW solar tender.
- 300 MW in SJVN’s 1,500 MW solar tender.
- Executed renewable projects: 4.2 GW as an EPC contractor in India and globally.
- Independent power producer (IPP) portfolio: Over 3.9 GW.
- Green energy contribution: 260 crore kWh delivered to the national grid.
Additionally, Mahindra Susten, in collaboration with the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, is developing a 150 MW hybrid renewable power project with an investment of Rs1200 crore.
