Maharashtra to Build 1.2 GW Solar Park in Solapur in Collaboration with UK Firm

Jan 30, 2025

In a significant boost to renewable energy in Maharashtra, Hazoor Multi Projects Ltd. (HMPL) has announced the development of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Saur Urja Park (CSMSUP), one of the state’s first large-scale solar parks. The 1.2 GW solar park, spread across 4,200 acres in Solapur district, is being developed in partnership with a multinational company from the United Kingdom.

Key Details of the Project:

  • Capacity: 1.2 GW.
  • Location: Solapur district, Maharashtra.
  • Area: 4,200 acres.
  • Technology: Advanced solar panels with 750-watt capacity, featuring both fixed and tracking systems to maximize energy generation.
  • Collaboration: Partnership between Mumbai-based HMPL and a UK-based multinational firm.

The solar park will utilize state-of-the-art technology, with each solar panel boasting a 750-watt capacity for enhanced efficiency. The project will incorporate both fixed and tracking solar panels, with the latter designed to follow the sun’s movement throughout the day. This dual approach ensures optimal energy generation, setting a new benchmark for solar projects in India.

Robert Moses, Director of Hazoor Multi Projects Ltd., highlighted the importance of the project, stating, “The development of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Saur Urja Park marks a significant milestone in HMPL’s journey in India. We are eager to expand our renewable power generation capacity and are excited to open more facilities across the country in the coming years.”

In addition to the CSMSUP, HMPL is planning solar hybrid projects in collaboration with international partners in Maharashtra (1,200 MW) and Andhra Pradesh (500 MW). These initiatives underscore HMPL’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in India’s renewable energy landscape.

Hazoor Multi Projects Ltd. is a leading Indian infrastructure company specializing in road construction, bridges, flyovers, and other civil engineering projects. With its entry into renewable energy, HMPL is diversifying its portfolio and contributing to India’s ambitious renewable energy targets.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Saur Urja Park is a significant step for Maharashtra in its renewable energy journey. It aligns with the state’s goal of increasing its solar energy capacity and reducing carbon emissions. The project is expected to create jobs, attract investments, and provide a sustainable energy solution for the region.

This initiative highlights the growing collaboration between Indian and international entities in the renewable energy sector, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
