Maharashtra Expands Intrastate Transmission System with Two New TBCB Projects

Maharashtra has announced plans to develop two additional intrastate transmission system (InSTS) schemes under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. This comes on top of three previously planned projects, reinforcing the state's commitment to strengthening its power transmission infrastructure.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (MSETCL) has appointed REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) as the bid process coordinator for these new transmission schemes.

The expansion of Maharashtra’s InSTS aims to enhance grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, and ensure efficient power evacuation from upcoming generation projects. The TBCB model is expected to attract private sector investment, ensuring cost-effective and timely execution of these critical transmission projects.
