Madhya Pradesh Unveils Renewable Energy Policy 2025 with 50% RE Target by 2030

Mar 01, 2025

The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced the Renewable Energy Policy 2025, aiming to derive 50% of its annual power consumption from renewable energy sources by 2030. The five-year policy applies to all renewable energy projects above 500 kW, excluding decentralized systems. District-level committees will oversee its implementation.

Key Policy Targets
  • 50% of the state's energy consumption from renewables by 2030.
  • State government departments to meet 50% green energy compliance by 2027 and 100% by 2030.
  • Development of 10 GW renewable energy parks by FY 2027.
  • 10 GW of renewable projects for power export outside the state by FY 2027.
  • Model renewable energy cities and green zones for sustainable urban development.
Investment & Incentives
  • Rs50,000 crore for renewable energy generation by 2027.
  • Rs10,000 crore for renewable energy equipment manufacturing.
  • 100% electricity duty exemption for 10 years.
  • 50% stamp duty reimbursement on private land purchases.
  • Concessional government land with 50% rebate on the circle rate.
  • 50% wheeling charge waiver for five years.
Green Hydrogen & Energy Storage Incentives
  • Up to Rs200 crore in investment promotion assistance.
  • 50% financial assistance for infrastructure and waste management systems.
  • Full reimbursement of expenses for patent filings and trademarks.
  • Mega industrial units investing over Rs500 crore will get customized incentive packages.
  • Exemptions for energy storage projects, including registration fee waivers, electricity duty exemptions, and stamp duty reimbursements.
Renewable Energy Project Prioritization
  • Green hydrogen & biofuels get top priority.
  • RUMSL projects, MNRE-approved projects, and state DISCOM-backed projects get priority over private projects.
  • Larger projects (250+ MW) requiring government land will have preference over smaller projects.
Green Cities & Green Zones
  • Cities with at least 30% renewable energy use will be designated as green cities.
  • Pilot projects in Sanchi & Khajuraho to showcase sustainable urban planning.
  • Mandatory rooftop solar for buildings with over 6 kW connected load.
  • 100% duty waiver & financial support for setting up corporate green zones.

Madhya Pradesh’s ambitious policy underscores the state’s leadership in renewable energy expansion, offering strong incentives to developers while prioritizing grid flexibility, energy storage, and green hydrogen production.
