L’Oréal Achieves 100% Renewable Energy Across European Operations
Apr 02, 2025
Global beauty giant L’Oréal has successfully transitioned to 100% renewable energy for all its European operations, including factories, distribution centers, and offices, as of December 2024.
This milestone marks a major step in the company’s sustainability roadmap under its “L’Oréal for the Future” strategy, which targets carbon neutrality and full renewable energy adoption at all company sites worldwide by 2025.
According to L’Oréal’s latest sustainability report, the company has made significant progress in renewable energy adoption. By the end of 2023, 83% of its global sites had already switched to 100% renewable energy, a dramatic increase from just 34% in 2019. With Europe housing 19 of L’Oréal’s 38 factories—including 11 in France—this latest achievement represents a crucial milestone in the company’s sustainability efforts.
The European success follows a similar accomplishment in 2023, when L’Oréal announced it had reached 100% renewable energy usage across its South Asia Pacific, Middle East & North Africa (SAPMENA) Zone.
Celebrating the milestone, Vianney Derville, President of L’Oréal’s Europe Zone, stated: “This accomplishment follows a year of strong progress, with 98% of our energy in Europe sourced from renewable sources throughout 2024. It is a testament to the hard work and vision of our teams.”
“We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. Together, we can make a real difference!”
L’Oréal’s commitment to clean energy aligns with broader corporate sustainability trends, reinforcing the company’s leadership in environmental responsibility within the beauty industry.
