JSW Energy Q1 Profit Surges 42% to Rs743 Cr on Strong Capacity Additions

Aug 02, 2025

JSW Energy reported a significant 42% year-on-year increase in its consolidated net profit for Q1 FY26, reaching Rs743 crore, up from Rs522 crore in the same quarter last year. This growth was driven by capacity additions in its renewable energy portfolio and the integration of assets like the Mahanadi thermal plant and O2 Power. The company’s total revenue rose sharply by 78% to Rs5,411 crore, compared to Rs3,043 crore a year ago.

A major driver of profitability was the surge in electricity generation, which rose 71% year-on-year to 13.5 billion units (BU). Renewable energy generation increased by 54% to 5.0 BU, while thermal generation jumped 83% to 8.5 BU. The Mahanadi plant added Rs867 crore in EBITDA and O2 Power, consolidated from April 9, 2025, added Rs219 crore.

CEO Sharad Mahendra highlighted the impact of disciplined investments and long-term capacity tie-ups on improving earnings quality. JSW Energy is now targeting Rs1.3 lakh crore in cumulative capex to achieve a 30 GW generation portfolio and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity. The company is also seeking power purchase agreements for its open capacity to enhance cash flow visibility.
