Jan 15, 2025

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced tenders for seven solar power projects with a combined capacity of 72 MW, set to be allotted this month. He emphasized the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh India’s first ‘Green Energy’ state by 2026 while ensuring environmental preservation. Additionally, surveys for eight projects totaling 325 MW are underway.

The state aims to develop 200 panchayats into ‘Green Panchayats’ by installing 200 KW solar plants, with earnings directed toward local development. The 32 MW Pekhubela solar project in Una, operational since April 2024, has generated 34.19 million units and Rs 10.16 crore. Other projects in Una are progressing rapidly. Sukhu highlighted renewable energy’s role in reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change.
