GUVNL Invites Bids for 2000 MW/4000 MWh Battery Storage Projects with VGF Support
Jul 26, 2025
Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a tender for developing 2000 MW/4000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the state of Gujarat. The tender will be conducted under a tariff-based competitive bidding framework with support from the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) mechanism facilitated through the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) under Phase-VII.
The selection process will be followed by an e-reverse auction to ensure transparency and cost-effectiveness. Interested bidders can access the tender documents via www.bharat-electronictender.com and www.guvnl.com. The deadline for online bid submission is set for September 11, 2025.
This large-scale energy storage tender aligns with Gujarat’s efforts to strengthen grid reliability and manage the intermittency of renewable energy. GUVNL’s initiative represents one of the largest storage procurements in the country to date, reflecting India’s growing focus on flexible and dispatchable power infrastructure.
