Jan 07, 2025
Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company (DGVCL) has awarded contracts for the development of 64 solar power projects, totaling 160 MW, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) program. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural irrigation efficiency by solarizing existing grid-connected pumps.
Several developers, including KPI Green Energy, Shree Ganesh Corporation, and Sartha Infrastructure, have secured contracts. These projects will operate under the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable solar power for farmers.
The PM KUSUM program, a central government initiative, aims to promote solar power adoption in the agricultural sector. Component C of the program, under which these projects fall, specifically focuses on solarizing existing grid-connected agricultural pumps.
