DISCOMs’ Dues to Power Generators Decline to Rs52,860 crore in March 2025

Power distribution companies (DISCOMs) in India owed Rs52,860 crore to power generators for the March 2025 billing cycle, down from Rs64,577 crore in February, as per data from the Ministry of Power’s PRAAPTI portal.

  • Late Payment Surcharge: Rs120 crore

  • Uttar Pradesh: Rs7,439 crore

Financial Reforms & Ratings
  • Payment Installments: DISCOMs can clear dues in up to 48 installments.
  • DISCOM Ratings:
    • Gujarat leads with four A+ rated DISCOMs
    • Followed by Odisha (3), Haryana (2), Maharashtra (1), and Uttar Pradesh (1)
    • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana DISCOMs were downgraded.
