Mar 07, 2025

Company invests Rs3 crore in Kilavikulam Rajalakshmi Solar Power Developer to bolster renewable energy portfolio.

Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited (DCBL) has announced plans to procure 10 MW of solar power from Kilavikulam Rajalakshmi Solar Power Developer, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established for setting up captive solar projects in Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to be commissioned within the next two months.

As part of the agreement, Dalmia Cement will acquire 34.52% equity shares, equivalent to three million shares, at a face value of Rs10 per share, totaling an investment of Rs3 crore. This move aligns with the company’s strategy to increase its reliance on renewable energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint.

According to Dalmia Cement’s annual report for 2023-24, the company currently sources 47% of its power from captive projects, with renewable energy contributing 185 MW out of its total 397 MW captive power capacity. In the financial year (FY) 2024, the company achieved a significant milestone, with 27% of its total power consumption coming from captive renewable energy sources. Overall, renewables met 33% of its total energy requirements during the year.

“Our investments in renewable energy projects underscore our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. By increasing our reliance on captive solar and wind power, we are not only ensuring energy security but also contributing to India’s clean energy transition,” said a spokesperson from Dalmia Cement.
