California Achieves 100% Wind-Water-Solar Power for 4 Consecutive Days

Feb 20, 2025

On Monday, February 17, California marked its 4th straight day in 2025 powered entirely by Wind-Water-Solar (WWS) energy, bringing the total to 20 such days this year. WWS also contributed 58% of the state’s total 24-hour electricity demand.

Key Trends Compared to 2024
  • WWS generation up by 19%
  • Battery storage output surged by 79%
  • Fossil gas usage dropped by 28%

California's progress underscores the growing reliability of renewable energy, with batteries playing a crucial role in grid stability and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The state's leadership in clean energy adoption sets a strong example for global energy transition efforts.
