C&I Sector Eyes Clean Energy as Industry Leaders Gather in Western India

AMPIN Energy Transition, in collaboration with Crisil and Bridge to India, hosted the "Renewable Energy Transition for C&I Customers in the Western Region" conference to promote clean energy adoption among commercial and industrial (C&I) users. The event brought together over 70 senior business managers and key dignitaries from government and industry, including officials from MNRE, GERC, MSEDCL, and major corporates like Zydus, Jubilant Ingrevia, and INOX Air Products.

Discussions emphasized India’s vast potential for renewable energy, supported by a mature market that is increasingly attractive to investors. PSU collaboration was highlighted as essential for achieving net-zero goals, especially in energy-intensive sectors like metro rail. The automotive sector is actively exploring storage solutions to enable night-time shift operations on renewables.

Participants noted that banking provisions and supportive state policies are crucial to accelerating C&I renewable adoption. Notably, recent government initiatives like the LPS scheme, Praapti portal, and timely tariff orders have improved sector transparency and cash flow management.

Panelists also stressed the importance of de-risking projects to secure funding and make them more bankable. Many small and mid-sized businesses are now targeting at least 50% renewable energy usage, signaling a broader shift toward clean energy integration across India’s industrial backbone.
