BrightNight Appoints Kapil Kasotia as India COO to Lead Multi-Gigawatt Renewable Push

Apr 05, 2025

BrightNight has appointed Kapil Kasotia as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for India, signaling a strong push toward accelerating the execution of its multi-gigawatt dispatchable renewable energy portfolio across key Indian states.

Kapil brings over 20 years of leadership experience in renewable energy and infrastructure, with past leadership roles at Sembcorp, Vena Energy, and Amp Energy. As COO, he will focus on refining the company’s operational strategy, enhancing execution speed, and improving overall process efficiency.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for BrightNight. The company recently commissioned the first phase of its 115 MW hybrid project in Maharashtra, marking its first-ever energy delivery into the Indian grid. The project is one of the state's first co-located wind-solar projects, setting a precedent for future developments.

BrightNight is gearing up to begin construction on two large-scale hybrid projects in Rajasthan, which will integrate wind, solar, and battery energy storage to provide peak power supply to national grid off-takers. Additional hybrid projects are in the pipeline across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

Based out of Gurugram, Haryana, Kapil will spearhead the company’s pan-India operations, playing a pivotal role in expanding BrightNight’s footprint and accelerating the country's clean energy transformation.
