Bluebird Solar to Expand Module Manufacturing Capacity to 2.5 GW in Greater Noida

Jul 29, 2025

This move aligns with the broader trend in India’s solar manufacturing sector, which saw the addition of 25.3 GW of module and 11.6 GW of cell manufacturing capacity in 2024, according to India Renewble Energy News’s 2025 report. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) recently expanded the ALMM list by 742 MW, bringing the total enlisted module capacity to 91.46 GW and the number of approved manufacturers to 107.

Looking ahead, monocrystalline technologies are expected to dominate the market, contributing over 58% of module and 64% of cell production by 2027. Additionally, starting June 2026, ALMM compliance will be extended to solar cells under ALMM List II. Projects using ALMM-listed modules must ensure these modules are built using cells from the ALMM-approved cell list, tightening quality and traceability norms in the solar sector.
