Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) Approves Tariffs for 160 MW Solar Projects Under PM-KUSUM
Apr 11, 2025
The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has approved the tariff range of Rs2.28 to Rs3 per kWh for 160 MW of solar projects under Component C of the PM-KUSUM scheme. These projects were proposed by Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL) to solarize 11 kV feeders, aimed at enhancing rural energy access and reducing dependency on conventional power.
DGVCL had floated a tender in March 2024 and finalized 65 bidders through a competitive and transparent bidding process followed by an e-reverse auction. The tariff range agreed upon was later submitted to GERC for approval along with draft power purchase agreements (PPAs). After holding public hearings and reviewing tender evaluations, the Commission confirmed the process was in line with government norms and would help DGVCL meet its Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs).
In addition to this case, GERC has also recently cleared similar petitions, such as Paschim Gujarat Vij Company’s 276 MW solar project under the same scheme, and a separate petition by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam for procuring 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery storage at Rs372,978/MW/month. These approvals mark significant progress in Gujarat's clean energy transition and regulatory support for distributed solar and storage initiatives.
