GERC Approves Tariffs for 276 MW Solar Projects by PGVCL Under PM-KUSUM
Apr 09, 2025
The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has approved the adoption of tariffs ranging from Rs2.13 to Rs3/kWh for 276 MW of solar power projects under Component C of the PM-KUSUM scheme, as petitioned by Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL). These projects aim to support 45,800 agricultural pumps connected to 11 kV feeders, promoting solar energy adoption in agriculture.
PGVCL received 129 bids for 125 solar projects, which will be implemented under the RESCO model with 25-year PPAs. The bidding process was transparent and competitive, and the discovered tariffs were found to be in line with market rates. The Commission accepted PGVCL’s request, enabling the company to proceed with signing PPAs with all successful bidders except Gensol Engineering, whose request to sign the PPA under a special purpose vehicle (SPV) was rejected and is now scheduled for a separate hearing.
GERC also directed PGVCL to publish the list of successful bidders and tariffs on its website for 30 days. This approval follows GERC’s earlier clearance for 259 MW across 101 solar projects under the same scheme in November 2024, and a uniform tariff adoption for Madhya Gujarat Vij Company projects earlier this year.
